Bourby Webster
Founder & Creative Director
Bourby Webster is the creative force behind The RARE Company, a producer, musician and cultural strategist known for transforming how audiences experience music and large-scale artistic events.
A classically trained violist and founder of Perth Symphony Orchestra, Bourby has spent her career reimagining orchestral music and creating experiences that break boundaries and build new audiences. Her work spans orchestral productions, festivals, outdoor spectacles, cultural celebrations, major event collaborations and creative commissions for governments, cities, sporting organisations and global entertainment companies.
Bourby works at the intersection of storytelling, place, music, design and cultural identity, creating moments that move people emotionally and collectively. She champions Australian talent, collaborates with artists at home and abroad, and leads creative teams with clarity, warmth and ambition.
Through The RARE Company, Bourby is developing a suite of landmark cultural productions, including large-scale experiences inspired by Australian stories, an annual flagship gala event and creative concepts for national commemorations and internationally significant gatherings. Her vision is to see Australia recognised worldwide not only for its landscapes and lifestyle, but for its creativity, talent and cultural leadership.
Gaetan Schurrer
Technical Director & Creative Audio Producer
Gaëtan Schurrer is a Technical Director, and creative audio engineer and producer with more than 30 years’ experience shaping the sound of world-renowned artists, composers and productions. His career spans studio recording, live performance, sound design, large-scale events and music for film, theatre and digital experiences.
Known for his technical mastery, deep musical instinct and fearless curiosity, Gaëtan brings a fresh approach to every project. He has collaborated across continents with chart-topping musicians, orchestras, DJs, producers, agencies and creative teams, always seeking new ways to push boundaries and deepen emotional impact.
At The RARE Company, Gaëtan leads the technical and audio direction across orchestral productions and major creative experiences, ensuring each project is shaped with innovation, precision and an unwavering commitment to making audiences feel, not just see and hear, the work.
Ash Gibson
Lead Composer & Orchestrator
Ash Gibson Greig is an award-winning composer, orchestrator and musical director whose work spans film, theatre, contemporary music, orchestral performance and large-scale live events. He is known for crafting powerful musical stories that amplify emotion and connect audiences across genres.
Ash has collaborated with The RARE Company’s Creative Director, Bourby Webster, for many years, realising her vision to transform the symphony orchestra and creating unique performances that resonate deeply with audiences. As Lead Composer & Orchestrator for RARE, Ash provides original compositions, bespoke arrangements and creative musical direction across the company’s productions, shaping the distinctive musical voice behind RARE’s work.
